Schönen Gruss und auf wiederseh'n

A traditional song used with original lyrics, usually when the winning team has the game in the bag and the losing fans start to sneak out the building to beat the traffic.

Recorded from SC Bietigheim-Bissingen (2. Bundesliga, de) - MP3
Thanks to: www.scbb-steelers.de

Lyrics:
Jetzt sagen wir
Auf wiederseh'n
Die Zeit mit Euch
War wunderschön

Es ist wohl besser jetzt zu geh'n
Wir wollen keine Träne seh'n
Schönen Gruss und auf wiederseh'n

Translation:

Now we say
See you soon
The time with you
Was wonderful

It is surely better to go now
We don't want to see any tears
Best wishes and see you soon

("Auf wiedersehen" means "goodbye" but has been translated as "see you soon" for a more fitting English version)

Webmaster's Note

I have always found supporters songs fun. I once had a book about English football fans' chants and songs and other aspects of their behaviour at the games they attend. I was a member of a small band of fans who travelled around Britain following the fortunes of the Lee Valley Lions and coming up with the most unusual and widespread range of fan songs in the country! I watched SB Rosenheim and joined in their many songs.

Now we have our own server which provides us with the space, we are collecting these songs on EH.N and detailing them, such as the origin of the tune, whether the lyrics are original, altered or new, and a translation into English.

If you would like your team's songs on here, check with your arena or rink management to see if they will allow audio recording equipment into the building and send us some MP3s of the songs and chants at your club's games. They will have to be good quality recordings, and of the whole crowd not just a few drunken fools ;o) Please also ensure there are no audible swear words that would be 'bleeped' on television for example, including by anyone not taking part in the actual song. Send the details of the song's origin, the lyrics, and a translation into English if necessary.

E-mail the songs to:
mike@hockeyuniverse.net
Please do NOT use this address for any other communication with EH.N, but use the contact info in the About section instead.

Happy recording!
