The Spengler Cup is as accurate as any other comparison between national teams. The question is, do teams take it seriously enough? Well, the same criticism has been levelled at teams in the EHL and Continental Cup so I'd say it is a fair comparison but not perfect.
Remember too that most teams have a number of guests, so they are not playing with their actual line-ups.
It is still one of the biggest events on the European hockey calendar. We hope to bring better coverage of the tournament once we have a larger number of Swiss staff.
