But a 40% decrease in salary doesn't guarantee prices will stay within control for more than 2 to 3 seasons. The owners need something in place that will help over a longer period of time than that. That's why they rejected.
For me, arbitration is fundamentally flawed and that should be the main focus of any discussions between the two parties. For me, arbitration and rogue owners are the two main reasons why the NHL finds itself in this mess.
