The problem has been facilities. There is a lot of interest in the country and they seem to have a decent plan, but not proper facility.
There will be a large full-size arena opening in Dublin for the 2004-2005 season because that city will have a team in the British top league formerly known as the ISL now known as the EIHL.
There's enough Irish American/Canadian players that they could put together a good squad and comepete at a WC or try and qualify for the Olympics.
