The problem is that those heritage players would need to play in Ireland for a minimum of two seasons to qualify for the Irish side. Since an Irish league doesn't exist, and the league that they plan to join with their new facility is at present a UK league (i.e. Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but not Eire), I don't see it being physically possible for those Irish players to go through a qualification period. When Dublin does join the British league, the IIHF are going to have to work out what an Irish dual-nat has to do to qualify. Do they have to play for Dublin as the only Irish team in the league, or will playing for, say, Sheffield be enough since an Irish team is in that league?
