The main reason behind the lack of NHL players in the UK is down to finances. The wage caps will ensure that neither of the top two leagues in the country are attractive to them. Even the top league is only going to pay it's imports an average of £22k to £23k a season.
The only way to bring these guys over is to change the whole British mentality that quantity is more important than quality. 10 years ago, with the same sort of finances, we had guys like Mike Blaisdell, Doug Smail and Laurie Boschman playing in the UK because we spread the money around fewer imports (three).
