French LeaguesDivision 2 InfoDivision 2 is the third level of hockey in France and consists of 16 teams. The teams are split into two groups (East and West) with 8 teams. All teams play each other once at home and once away. The total number of games per team is 7+7=14. The top four teams of each group advance to the play-off round. The last four teams of each group advance to the play-down round. In both groups (play off and play down), all teams play against the opponents they have not met in the qualifying round (once at home and once away). The total number of games per team is 4+4=8. All teams keep the points earned against the teams met in the qualifying round. The top four teams in the play-off group advance to semi-finals played in a best-of-two series with the better team starting away. The winners play the final in a best-of-two series with the better team starting away. The winner gets the championship title and earns a promotion into Division 1. The loser plays a best-of-two series against the team ranked 7th in Division 1 play-down group for a spot in Division 1 the following season. In the play-down group, the team ranked last is relegated into Division 3. The team ranked 7th plays a a best-of-two series against the team ranked 2nd in Division 3 for a spot in Division 2 the following season. Member teams 2005/06: HC Amiens 2
