The Euro Hockey Tour is a summary of four tournaments: Ceska Pojistovna Cup in Czech
Republic, Karjala Cup in Finland, Channel One Cup in Russia and the LG Hockey Games. The
winner counts as the unofficial European Champion.
The 4 tournaments add up to the overall standings. Some of the individual tournaments
used to allow other teams, for example Team Canada, into the schedule, but these games did not
count towards the EHT standings. Now only the four EHT countries are allowed.
Most teams use the competition as preparation for the World Championships or Olympics,
allowing less experienced players collect valuable ice time in their national colours.
