Double digits for Sweden
Outclasses Latvia and wins 10-1.
Sweden won their third straight game by beating Latvia 10-1. The first period was extremely onesided and Sweden scored five goals on 26 shots on goal. After 2-0 at 9:15 Latvia took a time out that didn't help and after 3-0 Latvia's goalie Raimonds Ermics was replaced after making 14 saves on 17 shots. Latvia's first shot of the game came after 19:53 and unfortunately for the Swedish goalie Mark Owuya the shot went in. Owuya had no chance to make his first save of the tournament when Jekimovs scored on a 2 on 1.
In the second period Sweden lost pace and concentration and only scored one goal. Owuya did a great save and on the counter attack Simon Hjalmarsson did no mistake. But the Swedes were hungry for more and quickly made it both 7-1 and 8-1 at the beginning of the first period. At the end the final score was 10-1. Magnus Svensson Pääjärvi scored two goals and made two assists and was Sweden's best player. In Latvia the goalie Nauris Enkuzens did several specatural saves and saved Latvia from a even bigger loss.
Sweden will play Russia for the group win and a place in the semi finals on new years eve while Latvia still has Finland left to play in the group stage.
