Canada stays perfect, beats Germany

Reigning champions carries on their gold medal hunt

After the blow-out wins against Czech Republic and Kazakhstan, Canada skated over Germany with a smaller gap as they concluded the match with a 5-1 score, really coming out of the game only in the third period.

A double by Zach Boychuk and single goals by Jamie Benn, Evander Kane and John Tavares gave to the host a well deserved victory against a team who tried hard, but could not come out from the game with more than one puck in Pickard’s net. Four of Canadian goals arrived from powerplay situations, as well as David Wolf’s marker for Germany.

With this victory Canada stays unbeaten and thus is leading the Group A standings with nine points in three games, while Germany stays at the third place with three points.

Next mach for the hosts will be the North America derby against the USA, round robin’s last game, to be played on December 31st, while Germany is going to face Czech Republic on December 30th.
