USA grabs fifth place

James van Riemsdyk scores the game winner in overtime.

USA won the fifth place game after 3-2 after overtime against the Czech Republic. USA dominated the first period a lot due to five Czech penalties. Despite 22 shots on goal the Americans only scored one when Eric Tangradi made it 1-0.

After a second period without much action there was more of it in the third. Okal made it 1-1 early and later there was a fight resulting with both Stich and Ruth leaving the ice with game misconducts, Stich at the same time was also given a match penalty. The game scored one more goal each and the game went to overtime where JVR scored the game winner.
