Norway is back at Olympics

- Davide Tuniz from Oslo

15 years after home edition in Lillehammer, Norway is back at Olympic Games defeating 5-3 Denmark to complete a perfect record in home tournament

For the last act between Norway and Denmark Jordal Anfi arena in Oslo is a little bit more packed. Teams have alterations from previous games: Denmark changes 3rd and 4th lines with Kirill Starkov deducted in 4th line and Rasmus Olsen up in 3rd, while Norway have to replace injured Mathis olimb in 3rd line with young Mats Zuccarello Aasen.

Denmark has to win to secure a spot for next Olympic Games and after just 45 seconds Mads Bødker takes advantage of a confusing momentum in Norway's defence and with a sharp slap-shot finds the net. At 09:54 Demark hits a post but on same action a superb move by Lars Erik Spets give host the tie at 04:09. Denmark has a great chance at 05:26 to lead the game again but Michael Eskesen touch passes under goalie body and incredibly didn't find the net

The game has a great intensity and both teams have chances, Galbraith is superb to secure a puck in the traffic at 06:40. Spets misses a great chance some minutes after and Grotnes saves on Eller's shot.

After a good Norwegian period, are Danish to score again: at 14:43 with Kaurismaki in the sinbin Niclas Hardt find the net finalizing a good play by special team. And again Danish can increase score with Rasmus Olsen, Nichlas Hardt and Mads Christiansen before the horn.

Second period seeing a Danish supremacy with some chances wasted, specially during a double power play around minute 23. Norway survives and took a gift from opponents: at 27:54 Patrick Thoresen capitalized a power play gifted by Denmark for too many men on ice.

Denmark skids and Norway has chances to score with same Thoresen and Mats Trygg. Storm passed without damages, Denmark takes again the lead of game but at 37:26 Patrick Thoresen shows why he played in NHL: HC Lugano player built by himself a nice goal, passing behind the net, waiting for Galbraith move and scores the 3-2 Norway. Danish claim because in their opinion a defender was tripped in the action but referee validate goal.

Last period balance is broken at 49:40 when Jonas Holøs finds the net from distance on power play. Denmark hopes crashed when a 5vs3 isn't capitalized by Danish. Marius Holtet missed a one-to-one at 53:00, Rasmus Olsen netted consolation 4-3 for Denmark deflecting a Kasper Degn pass at 56:36 before final seal by a great Patrick Thoresen on Vikingstad assist (and a Philip Larsen mistake on defence).

Norway is back at Olympic Games 15 years after home edition in Lillehammer, Denmark should need players like Thoresen in attack, maybe they have, but are all overseas...
MVP are Lars Erik Spets and Mads Bødker
