Great comeback by Sweden

USA had the lead 5-2 but Sweden wins 6-5 after overtime.

When Jack Johnson made it 5-2 for USA eight minutes into the third period it felt like the game was over, but a quick goal by Magnus Johansson gave Sweden some more energy and after a fantastic Swedish finish to the game Sweden turned the game around and won 6-5 after overtime, the game winner scored by Kristian Huselius,

The first period was quite entertaining with many chances on both end. Esche and Gustavsson both played well in goal and only one goal was scored when O Sullivan scored on a breakaway after a failed shot attempt by Nicklas Grossman.

Sweden had problems on their power play but at the end of the first power play in the second period Magnus Johansson gave Mattias Weinhandl an open net with a brilliant pass, Weinhandl made not mistake and tied the game. The goal gave Sweden more energy and quickly made it 2-1. But Swedish penalty trouble gave USA two 5 on 3 power plays and USA took advantage of both of them and retook the lead.

After those goals it was all about USA and they easily added two more goals in the third period. But after 5-2 USA seemed to be certain of a victory and allowed Sweden back into the game with the goal only 26 seconds later. And with 7:15 left to play Niklas Persson made it 4-5 shorthanded. The goals turned the momentum completly and at 56:19 Mattias Weinhandl made it 5-5 from a bad angle, a mistake by Robert Esche.

In three games Sweden have used three different goalkeepers, with Stefan Liv injuried, Jonas Gustavsson was given the chance today. He made some fantastic saves but should have saved USA's third goal. He was also given the best player award for Team Sweden.

The two points can be crucial for Sweden's hunt for a quarter final spot, tomorrow they'll play Russia but will need to play a much better defense if they want to win that game.
