Denmark and Austria made it to a decisive game
Hungary relegated to Division 1.
After today’s games in the Relegation Round of the 2009 World Championship it is decided that Hungary is already relegated to Division 1. The winner of the upcoming game between Denmark and Austria will remain in the Elite division.
Denmark beat Hungary 5-1 with goals by Kim Staal, Mads Christensen, Morten Green, Morten Madsen and Nichlas Hardt.
Hungary had a 1-0 lead after the first period on a goal by Krisztian Palkovics, but the Danes who out-shot the Hungarians 46-19 scored twice in the second period and three times in the third. Morten Green had one goal and three assists today.

Thomas Koch scored the only goal when Austria beat Germany 1-0 in Bern. The goal was scored in the middle of the second period on an assist by NHL star Thomas Vanek. The Austrian netminder Bernd Brückler made 38 saves to get the victory.
