France finishes 12th, one of its best results
Despite a nightmare start, France avoids a tough lesson as last year in Quebec when was hammered 9-0 by Swedes. After 5 minutes Sweden was 3-0 - goals by Johnny Oduya, Kristian Huselius, and Marcus Nilson - but France didn't broke up and find the right way to face "tre kronor" attacks, as well showed in a spectacular second period: 3 goals by French, the first ever score by Carl Gunnarsson and the second in the game by Oduya. Kenny Jönsson, deflecting Anton Strålman’s slapshot pass into the French net, sealed the final 6-3. French coach David Henderson is more then satisfied in post-game: "We're happy with the result, being able to stay up after the first round. The game against Latvia wasn't good, but we did play two great games, against the US and Sweden. Scoring three goals against Sweden was unheard of for France. Our young guys are growing into their roles and they're getting ready to step up now"
Sweden - France 6-3 (3-0,2-3,1-0)
