Edit Competitions

As this script is VITAL to the successful operation of a number of scripts, it is only accessible by a few staff.

If you wish to be added to this list, contact Mike or Carl.

Competitions each have an ID which aids the various display scripts. It is vital to the operation of these scripts to give the competition an appropriate ID. Each competition also has a display name which is what the user sees.

Any unofficial matches such as pre-season or exhibition games are preceded by the prefix 'chal'. A simple challenge match is listed under 'chal', a match in the Something Cup tournament is called 'chalsomething':
chal- = Challenge
chal-something = Something Cup

Any official leagues or tournaments which are based in one country (even if there are one or two participants from another country) have the prefix of the country's NIC:
se-elit = Swedish Elitserien
fi-sml = Finnish SM-Liiga
uk-isl = UK Superleague
de-del = German DEL

This splitting of the two types of fixture enables us to list all challenge games and all official games in separate lists. We can also break the listings down more for single competitions.

Screen 1:

New Competition:
Enter the competition ID (not display name, see above).
Edit a Competition:
Select the competition. These are listed in alphabetical order of their IDs. Display names are also listed in the menu.

Screen 2:

Enter the competition display name.
Is it a multi-national competition? (Even if just ONE team is from a foreign country you must choose this).
If the competition has just teams from one country, select that country.

Screen 3:

Either the teams from one country or all teams are listed. Select the teams which compete in this competition by clicking them. Once you have selected one team, hold the Ctrl key to select the rest. Before finishing, make sure all the teams are selected by scrolling the menu. Any teams selected in error can be deleted by holding Ctrl and clicking them a second time.

Here you can also enter the points system of the competition. This is to aid in the calculation of standings. This is self-explanatory.

Now you are ready to Enter Fixtures for that competition. If it is an all season competition such as the league regular season, you can send us the schedule in Excel 97 format.
